What is the difference between Car Stories and Road Photos?
Car stories are organized into different categories (i.e. barn find or road trip). Each post showcases a different vehicle, with a focus on a personal story associated with that car. Car Stories may use up to 1500 words. Road Photos showcase eye catching or funny, non-narrative photos of vehicles submitted by staff. Photos only have a title or caption based on the scenario. In most situations, there may not be any information regarding the owner or state of the vehicle photographed.
I’m not a writer. How do I create a good story?
The best stories are written in the way that you would tell it to a friend. Identify the year, make, model, and any special features about the car, but the story is about your connection to it. Start with a main idea (your first car, difficult restoration project, vacation trip gone bad, Mom’s hot rod, etc.) and make an outline of the Who, What, Why, When, and Where. Use descriptive words to bring the story to life. For example: “It was a loud car” could also be described as “it was so loud when I started it up that I woke up the neighbors” or “it was so loud when I started it up my dad made me coast it down the driveway before I could start it”. Any story is good but the more descriptive details the better. Good Luck!
How can I share my story with friends? Using a computer, go to your post and click on the URL at the top left-hand side of your page. The URL starts with “https://” and is the link that you’ll want to send to others. Hover your cursor over the URL. Right click to shade in the entire URL and copy the entire line. Paste it into an email, or Facebook post, or whatever application you’re using to share information. Sharing by phone is similar but each device may use a slightly different process.
How can I make sure my privacy is protected?
Your email address will not be public. Choose an alias or use only your first name as your account “Username”. Regarding photos, we recommend that you remove the meta data (location, date, time) from the photo before submitting. For example, on an iPhone, swipe up on the photo, tap “Adjust”, and then tap “No Location” to remove a photo's location metadata. Search online to find the process for your device or application. Finally, you may want to avoid taking photos that include your license plate.
Is it possible to remove my content from the site?
